본 연구는 유치원 원장과 교사들이 유아 및 학습평가에 있어 그들 스스로가 평가에 대해 어떻게 인식하고 있으며, 또한 실행하고 있다고 보는지 알아보고자 하였다. 연구결과에 의하면, 유치원 원장과 교사들 모두 평가에 대한 신념보다는 실제 수행정도가 미흡하다고 보고 있었으며, 평가에 대한 신념에 있어서 유치원 교사가 원장보다 평가를 높게 인식하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 한편 전반적인 평가의 실제 수행에 대해서는 원장과 교사간에 차이가 없었으나, 하위 영역에서 교사는 원장보다 평가의 실행적 측면이 잘 수행되고 있다고 보고 있었으며, 원장은 교사보다 평가의 활용과 관리적 측면이 잘 수행되고 있다고 보고 있었다.

This study investigated the beliefs and practices of kindergarten directors and teachers regarding assessment of young children`s development and learning. The subjects for this study were 119 kindergarten directors and 106 teachers from kwangju City and Chonnam Province. The instrument was a questionnaire developed by the researcher, using a 1-5 Likert Scale. Cronbach α for the item analysis of the questionnaire and paired t-test, and χ² test for the data analysis were calculated. Results reveal that a) both the kindergarten directors and the teachers perceived a great difference between their beliefs regarding the efficacy of assessment and their practices of assessment, b) the kindergarten teachers had a better understanding of the assessment than the directors, and c) there were no differences in the assessment practices between kindergarten directors and teachers. However, there are some differences in the subcategories: the kindergarten teachers perceived the assessment procedure as being carried out well while the directors perceived that the administrative aspect of the assesment was carried out well.
