본 연구는 1980년대 말부터 최근까지 발표된 TV 유아교육 프로그램과 관련된 연구결과를 기초로 우리나라에서 방영되고 있는 TV 유아교육 프로그램을 음악교육적 측면에서 관찰 분석하였다. 각 프로그램은 노래 전달 방식과 전달자에 있어서 부정적인 측면이 있었고, 악기의 활용이 단순했으며 음개념 전달에 중심을 두어야 하는 유아음악교육에로의 접근이 결여되었음이 밝혀졌다. 본 연구 결과는 TV 유아교육 프로그램이 상업적, 오락 중심에서 탈피하여 유아의 음악성 발달을 유도하는 교육프로그램으로의 전환을 요구한다. 또한 교육적인 TV 유아교육 프로그램의 제작을 위해 유아교육자, 방송관계자, 음악교육가를 주축으로 하는 방송 연구기구의 필요성이 제안되었다.

There have been several children`s educational TV programs in Korea since the 1980`s. However, most children`s educational TV programs seem more concerned with commercial rather than educational aspects. This study investigated TV programs from an educational point of view, especially music education. The results of this study are that differences exist among programs in terms of song teaching methods, singers, ways in which song texts are transfered, program length, and frequency with which instruments are used. Most children`s educational TV programs are still inclined to commercialism rather than to education. However, `Tingdongdaeng TV yuch`iwon` by EBS is educationally excellent both in the selection of teaching materials and in the method used for teaching music. Based on this study`s findings, the following suggestions can be made: 1. A new song should be repeated and accompanied by its text on the screen at least three times. 2. Young singers rather than older ones should perform. 3. Music should be played by itself, not as a background for other activities. 4. Various musical instruments, including traditional Korean Changgo, should be presented. 5. More than twenty minutes should be allotted per program.
