본 연구는 Charlesworth가 개발한 TBS(Teacher Belief Scale)와 IAS(Instructional Activities Scale)의 타당도, 신뢰도를 검증하는 것을 목적으로 대구 경북지역과 광주 전남지역의 유치원에 근무하고 있는 교사 147명을 대상으로 설문지를 배부하였다. 연구결과, TBS는 4개의 요인으로, IAS는 5개의 요인으로 구성되었음을 확인하였으며 TBS의 내적합치도는 .76, IAS의 내적 합치도는 .79이었다. 이 결과에 기초하여 본 척도는 우리나라 유아교사들의 신념과 실제를 평가할 수 있는 도구로서 신뢰도와 타당도가 있다고 판단된다.

This study examines the validity and reliability of the TBS(Teacher Belief Scale) and the IAS(Instructional Activities Scale), both developed by Charlesworth(1990, 1991, 1993). Subjects were 147 kindergarten teachers in Taegu and Kwangju areas. The TBS and IAS together consist of 48 items. Data, employing factor analysis, reveals that a four-factor solution is the best fit for the TBS and a five-factor solution is best for the IAS. Cronbach α is .76 for the TBS and .79 for the IAS. This analysis indicates that both the TBS and the IAS are acceptable for general use in Korea.
