프뢰벨의 유아교육 사상에서 우리는 지식과 경험 세계의 전경(全景, panoramic view)을 보게되며 유아교육을 비롯한 교육계에 미친 그의 영향력은 세계 도처의 다양한 문화권에 걸쳐 실질적으로 매우 크다. 그러나 그의 유아교육과 관련된 그의 사상체계는 다양하게 해석되고 오해되고 있는 실정이다. 이런 맥락에서 프뢰벨의 유아교육 사상 이해를 위한 통합적 접근 방법 세 모델(전기적 접근과 철학적 분석의 결합, 프뢰벨 저서의 효과적 활용, 유아교육 사상체계의 근저인 종교적 배경 파악)을 도출할 수 있는 근거와 그 내용을 제시하는 것이 본 연구의 목적이다. 이러한 접근 방법을 통해 파악된 프뢰벨 유아교육 사상의 핵심은 그의 종교 사상을 바탕으로 형성된 신-인간-자연의 상호 관계성에 의거한 조화로운 삶의 추구와 형성이다.

In the educational thought of Friedrich Froebel we are confronted with a panoramic view of the universe of knowledge and experience. That is the reason why Froebel is certainly one of the unforgettable educators in the circle of early childhood education. However, nobody can deny that his educational ideas have been variously interpreted and misunderstood. This study aims to present how to absolve this tendency and grasp Froebel`s essential educational thought more accurately and deeply. We may call it the integrated approach to Froebel. This means that we have to hold holistic views and comprehensive approaches in order to understand various tendencies and parts of Froebel`s educational system and ideas. It is comprised of three principles : amalgamation of biographical approaches and philosophical analysis, understanding of the process of Froebel`s educational ideas developed through effective usage of Froebel`s main works, and appreciation of Froebel`s religious background and ideas as the foundation of his early childhood educational ideas. It is pertinent that these three principles should be involved in studying Froebel at the same time. When we study Froebel in this way, we are able to reach what Froebel emphasized. Motivated by a profound grasp of the interrelationships of God-man-nature in Christian theology, Froebel set the law of life of unity as the core of his early childhood educational ideas before all of us.
