A STUDY ON THE PRESENT CONDITION OF MOVEMENT EDUCATION IN KINDERGARTEN

The purpose of this study is to examine the preschool teacher`s perception and the actual teaching condition of Movement Education. The subjects were 220 teachers who were randomly selected from kindergartens located in Seoul and Kyeong Ki-Do. The tool of this study was a questionnaire and the frequency and percentage were proved by using SPSS PROGRAM. The differences according to academic and teaching career were proved by chi-square test. The findings of this study are as follows: 1. 86.3% of teachers answered the development of potential movement capacity through children`s body control and expression extension about the concept of Movement Education. 97.6% of them recognized the necessity of Movement Education in Kindergarten. 2. The teachers teach mostly by themselves and the teachers who major in Physical education were charged with Movement Education were 15.9%. 3. They teach the basic movement most of all 41.5% of them. The lower the teaching career, the more they preferred creative movement, and the higher the teaching career, the more they preferred rhythmic movement. 4. 57.7% of the teachers gave their children motivation of movement. At least 16.5% of them planned movement education and the higher the teaching career, the less they planned.
