The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of reading instruction methods on four and five-year-old children. To this end, two research questions have been set up in this study. 1. Is there a difference between the child-experience-centered instruction method and the teacher-centered instruction method? 2. Is there a difference between the child-experience-centered instruction method and the teacher-centered-instruction method when teacher teach young children to read Korean letters which has "Batchim(alphabet under Korean letter)"? To reach the goal of this study, a total of 80 prereaders were sampled as a subjects. Their social and economic status was middle-class. The data was analyzed by ANOVA. The findings of the study were as follows; 1. There was a significant difference statistically between the child-experience and teacher-centered-instruction methods. The children`s reading was improved by the child-experience-centered instruction method. 2. There was a significant difference statistically between the child-experience and teacher-centered instruction methods. The group of young children the child-experience-centered teaching method could read the Korean letter which has Batchim.
