Since L. Kohlberg developed his stage theory of moral development in 1963, numerous replicational studies have emerged: Not only his theory has been confirmed experimentally, but also it has been generalized over different cultures such as Mexican, Chinese, and Japanese cultures. But what has not been clear yet is the level of generality of stage theory of moral development in Korean culture. This study was intended of implement the above question: The findings of this study are as followings; 1) Age was the major variable which controlled the developmental stages. (PL. vol) This finding supports the cognitive point of view in moral development. The ceiling effect of Korean Children`s moral judgement is at 12 years. 2) Sex was not the significant variable which could predict the developmental stages of moral development. 3) SES was not the meaningful variable which controlled the developmental stages. More systematic and more differentiated studies will be required in generalizing Korean Children`s moral development. One of the secondary findings was the relatively higher correlation between the developmental stages of mothers and those of children. So, it seemed to me that the maternal variable was one of the significant variables in predicting children`s moral developmental stage.
