Objectives : This study was carried out to know the effects of Spatholubus suberectus Durn(hereinafter referred to STSD) on the inhibition of arthritis induced by collagen on the mice. Methods : Various experimental such as arthritis index, incidence, the production of IgM, IgG3. IgG2b, IL-10 and TNF-α, the expression of CDZ`, CD8`, CD69`, NK` and the formation of new bones and synivium were performed in DBA/lJ(mice which are experimental model of arthritis induced by collagen) to analyse the inhibition effects of STSD. Results : The arthritis index, incidence, the production of IgM, IgG3, IgG2b and the production of TNF-a were decreased. Whereas the production of ll-10 and the expression of CDE`. CD8`, CDf39`, NK` in peripheral blood mononuclear were increased. And also the formation of new bones and synivium were stimulated. Conclusions : Comparison of the results for this study showed that STSD had immunomodulatory effects of suppressing or enhancing. So we expect that STSD should be used as a effective drugs for rheumatoid arthritis. Therefore we have to survey continuously in looking for the effective substance and mechanism in the future.
