The objective of the current study was to depict the conversion characteristics of a platinum catalyst for the deep oxidation of VOCs and their mixtures in supercritical fluid media. The catalytic oxidation ot VOCs, including benzene, toluene and m-xylene, was studied on a 0.5% P??? -A1₂0₃ catalyst. The deep conversion of benzene in a mixture was significantly inhibited by the presence of other VOCs, yet the inhibiting effect decreased in the order of styrene > ethylbenzene > toluene. However, this inhibiting effect in supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO₂) media was lower compared to that in a gas state. The amount of intermediates decreased as the deep conversion of VOCs increased. Therefore, the catalytic oxidation process in SC-CO2 media can be recommended as a control technology for VOC mixtures.
