Some scholars insist as progressive education is getting weaker, traditional education should be revived, and a movement to promote educational humanism has appeared. The word "essentialism" comes from an idea that the purpose of education is to transfer the very basic essentials among social traditions to the next generation. There are idealistic: trends and factual trends in essentialism, and both trends are grounded in firm beliefs. Essentialism does not deny that the changes are taking place, but accepts them as superficial changes only. Essentialism values tradition and believes in it`s everlasting value so that it gives people the meaning of life and the certainty by which people can get back on the right way of life. In this regard, these two views are considered conservative, and when it is reflected on education, that is essentialism. Education of essentialism emphasizes the traditional process of education including national experience rather than the individual`s experience, It also focuses on the teacher`s systematic teaching and guidance rather than self study. As a result, education of essentialism is first., interests coming from making an effort, that is motivation is emphasized. Second, the responsibility of guidance and protection of pupils comes from humanism. Third, society passes on its cultural heritage generation by generation based on it`s long creative progressions. Fourth, it emphasizes national experience, especially cultural organization. Finally, it puts emphasis on systematic learning, valuing the logic of textbook teaching.
