A survey of Candida in the human feces was made in 61 subjects randomly selected from inpatients at St. Mary`s Hospital, The Catholic Medical Center. The following results were observed. 1. Candida was isolated from the feces of 43 subjects (70.5%) and the following species were identified: C. albicans, C. krusei, C.guilliermondii, C. tropicalis, C. parapsilosis, C. brumptii. 2. Candida albicans was most predominant, comprising 62.3% of those in whom candida was isolated. 3. No symptoms were attributable to the presence of C albicans even the subjects in whom as many as 25,000 colonies of candida per gm of the feces were isolated.
