본 연구는 제7차 사회과 경제영역의 교육과정과 교과서를 분석하여 초등학교경제교육의 문제점을 도출하고 개선방향을 제시하는 데 의의를 두고 있다. 먼저 사회과 교육과정의 수업 시수 확보가 재고되어야 한다. 고학년의 경우, 타 교과의 생성과 유입으로 인해 연간 수업 시수가 줄어드는 추세에 있다. 민주시민의 자질을 배양하는 데 필요한 연간 수업 시수를 늘리지는 못하더라도 축소시키는 것은 바람직하지 못하므로 수업 시수의 원상회복이 필요하다. 다음으로 교과서 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 기초와 미시개념은 충실하게 다루어지고 있으나 거시, 국제, 측정개념과 방법들은 소홀히 취급되고 있었으며, 둘째, 가격론과 가격이 결정되는 변수인 수요와 공급은 미시경제에서, 국민소득론의 국내총생산과 국민총생산은 거시경제에서 핵심적인 개념들인데 소홀히 다루어지고 있다. 셋째, 학생들의 눈 높이 수준에서 관심과 흥미를 가지고 참여하여 체험할 수 있는 프로그램이나 학습의 장에 개발이 부족하여 올바른 경제마인드를 심어주기에 미흡하다. 넷째, 소비중심의 교육에서 벗어나 다수의 기업가가 조기에 길러질 수 있는 생산 위주의 교육으로 전환되어야 한다. 결론적으로 초등학교시기부터 경제기본개념들을 고루 접할 수 있도록 교재내용을 구성하되 생산중심의 경제교육을 지향해야 하며, 한국경제의 미래를 위해 선진경제들의 일반적인 추세처럼 학교교육에 정부의 적극적인 관심과 행·재정적 지원이 더 필요하고 민간단체나 기구들의 창립과 협조가 요구된다. 그리고 경제전문가와 학자들은 학생들에게 올바른 경제마인드와 가치를 심어줄 수 있는 소프트웨어의 연구·개발에 가일층 노력 할 때, 우리 나라의 경제는 그 장래가 밝게 될 것이다.

Recently the problem in our economy is to be sustained economic growth through national competition power and entered at the advanced economic block. For these the duty of school economic education understands objective and systematic economic elementary concepts, principles, actual economic problems and implant an analysis power to economic phenomenon, rational consumption life, responsible decision-making skill etc., sound economic consciousness. On the ground of these cognitions, this study is an significance that analyzes the curriculum and textbook of the 7th social studies economic area and extracts the point at issue and presents the improvement directions. First of all, the security of teaching hours number should be reconsidered an occasion of the 5th, 6th grade, on account of the creation and inflow of other a course of study, a yearly teaching hours number in inclined to diminish. To cultivate responsible, citizenship and civic competence in a democracy, the restoration of a yearly teaching hours number is needed. The next, the result of textbook analysis is as following. The first, the basic and micro concepts is treated faithfully, but macro, international economy, measurement concepts and way is treated negligently. The second, the price theory and demand & supply in variable of price at micro economic, GDP & GNP of national income theory at macro economic are core concepts, nevertheless these are treated negligently. The third, due to short of development about programs and fields of experiences learning, it is insufficient to plant right economic mind to our children. The fourth, to get out of consumer & consumption-centered education, our school economic education should be changed with the producer & production-centered education to cultivate a number of enterprisers in the early stage. In conclusion, for the purpose of Korea economy of future like that general orientation of the advanced economic, our government must give positive interests and administrative, financial aids at school economic education, further the foundation and assistance of civil bodies and organizations are requested. The economic experts and economists should be made an exertion to be planted right economic mind and value to our students through the R&D of softwares.
