Benzene oxidation over gold nanoparticle supported on metal oxides was carried out using a flow reactor, and the addition effect of gold particles was discussed by the kinetic results on Au/A1_20_3 catalyst according to two-stage redox mechanism. The supported gold catalysts were very active in the benzene oxidation. The reaction order in the rate equation determined experimentally was -1 for benzene and 0.5 for oxygen. Activation energy obtained from temperature dependence of 1st and 2st step was 45.2kJ/mol and 41.0kJ/mol, respectively. These results were different from other catalyst system. That is, activation energy of 2nd step was lower than that of 1st step. This fact suggests that gold nanoparticles enhance the oxidation step of the catalyst. It was known that supported gold nanoparticle was very effective component for removing benzene even at relatively low temperature.
