This study examined th image of the parent perceived by children and adolescents by semantic differential technique. The subjects of this study were 371 5th grade elementary school students, 266 2nd grade middle school students, and 330 2nd grade high school students in Seoul and Kyunggi Province. The data were analyzed by frequencies, percentiles, t-test, and one-way ANOVA. The results of this study are as follows: 1. The present subjects, in general, showed the highest perception of potency to the `parents`, white they showed the highest perception of evaluation to the `father` and the `mother` among three dimensions. 2. Girls showed more positive image to the parents and the mothers than boys, while boys were more positive in the image of the fathers` activities than girls. 3. The high school students showed more negative image to the parents` potency than the elementary school students and the middle school students. And the elementary school students showed more positive image to the fathers, while they were more negative in the image of the mathers evaluations than the middle school students and the high school students. 4. The image of the parents` potency were more positive in Christian and Catholic, while the image of the parents` activity were more positive in Christian and Buddhist And the image of the mother`s evaluation were most negative in Buddhist. 5. The subjects living with their parent showed more positive image of parent than the subjects who did not live with their fathers.
