This clinical analysis was made on 25 cases of the parotid gland tumors admitted and treated at
Department of Surgery, Soon Chun Hyang University Hospital during the past 10 years.The results were as follows; 1) Sexual ratio between male to female was 1.4 : 1 2) The most common duration of illness was in the 2 to 5 years group with the average 3.2 years. 3) The patient's chief complaint was painless mass in the parotid area located in the area. 4) The mean size of the mass was 4.1 cm in diameter and tumors were more prevalent in the left side than in the right side of the neck. 5) Superficial parotidectomy was the most common procedure comprising 56% of all parotid gland
procedure. 6) In histopathologic study, among total 25 cases, 22 cases were benign and 3 cases were malignant tumor: The benign disease include mixed tumor (l8 cases), Warthin's tumor (3 cases,. Inflammation (1 case) and the malignant disease include mucoepidermoid carcinoma (1 case), adenoid cystic carcinoma (1 case) and epidermoid carcinoma (1 case). 7) The major postoperative complications included facial nerve palsy in 3 cases, hematoma formation in 2 cases and wound infection in 2 cases.
