Objectives: The urea kinetic modeling has been used as useful index for adequate dialysis in hemodialysis patients, We performed this study to evaluate the useful- ness of kinetic index for degree of rehabilitation. Methods: The kinetic indices using urea kinetic modeling and degree of rehabilitation were analysed 105 patients with chronic renal failure on hemodialysis treated at the Hanyang University Hospital, Results: The dermographic characteristics of these patients, male to female was 58:42 and the mean age was 46.8±12.7 years. Underlying disorders of chronic renal failure consisted of chronic glomerulonephritis (71.5%), hypertensive nephrosclerosis (14.39%). and diabetic nephropathy (7.6%). Family status was significant in that 18 cases (58%) were married and 32.3% (10) were never married, the remaining 3 (9.7%) were divorced or widowed. Of the total 105 patients, 31 (43.1%) are presently employed. Of those 31 working patients, 16 were self-employed, S were on service jobs and 3 were on general office jobs. More than half (63.1%) of those patients worked full-time, 9(29%) part-time, and 3(9.7%) irregularly. Only 72 (68.6%) patients held jobs before dialysis, and 16 (22.2%) of those returned to the same job. The physical activity of the patients were stastically not related with urea kinetic indices such as PCR, Kt/V, total KT/V/week, TACurea, nor with hematocrit (p>0.05). However, in serum albumin level the difference between group 0, 1, 2 and group 3, 4 in physical activity was significant (p<0.05). The patients dialysed below 2 times per week had lower values of Kt/V, total KT/V/ wk, and PCR than the patients dialysed more than 2 times per week(p<0.01). Conclusion: From the above results, it appeared that kinetic indices using urea kinetic mdeling are not closely related to the degree of rehabilitation in hemodialysis patients,
