To investigate the prognostic value of histologic and clinical factors in the primary gastrointestinal (GI) lymphoma, the clinicopathologic findings in 27 cases with GI lymphoma were reviewed. The lymphomas were reviewed. The lymphomas were located in stomach in 9 cases, small intestine in 7 cases, ileocecal area in 7 cases and large intestine in 4 cases. the mean age was 37.8 years (range 5 to 74 years), there were 18 men and 9 women. The clinical stage at time of operation was stage I, 29.6%, stage II, 37.0% stage III, 29.6 and the stage IV was 3.7% and resectability according to the location of the lesion were 88%, 42%, 85% and 75% respectively for stomach, small bowel, ileocecal area and large bowel tract. The histopathologic types according to the Working Formulation Classification were high grade (N=6), intermediate grade (N=19) and lower grade (N = 12). The most important factor for favorable prognosis was post-operative combined adjuvant therapy (p<0.05).
