N/AThis study designed to investigate the activities of brush border membrane associated enzymes, LDH and beta-glucuronidase of gatric mucosa in patients with stomach cancer and to identify the source of these enzymes and the possibilites of prediction of cancer develoment. The results were as follows: 1) Among the brush border associated enzymes, activities of alkaline phosphatase, lactase and trehalase showed no difference among cancer tissue, transitional zone and normal gastric mucosa, but normal gastric mucosa. and the aminopeptidase N activities of cancer tissue and transitional zone were higher than those of normal gastric mucosa(p<0.05). 2)LDH activities showed no difference among cancef tissue, transitional zone and normal gastic mucosa. But beta - glucuronidase activities of cancer tissue and transitional zone significantly higher than those of normal gastic mucosa(p<0.05). 3)Among the enzymes which showed differendces according to the location, the activitees of sucrase and aminopeptidase N were increase progressively with the increasing severity of intestinal metaplsia of transitional zone, But the activities of beta-glucuronidase showed no diffenence according to the severity of intestinal metaplasia. These results suggested that the brush border membrane associated enzymes of gastic mucosa in patients with somach cancer, but the increased activities of beta-glucurnidase might have other cause of increase than the intestinal metaplasia, probably the metabolic response of cancer tissue.
