The follow up study for positivities of HBsAg by RPHA method and anti-HBs by PHA method with SGOT by kinetic method were checked from 1984 to 1986 in Bankers who are resident in kwangju city. The results as follows; 1) The HBsAg in 1984 was 8.85%, 8.11% in 1985 and 7.86% in 1986. But there are no significant differences among annual positivities. The anti-HBs in 1984 was 9.82%, 30.71% in 1985 and 34.40% in 1986. It was significant in the change of positivities for anti-HBs between 1984 and 1985. But there was no significance between the 1985 and the 1986. 2) The positivity of HBsAg was higher in male than female as 1.85:1 in 1984, as 2.28:1 in 1985 and as 1.84:1 in 1986. 3) We regarded as B type hepatopathy, if HBsAg is positive and SGOT is over 40 IU, The annual occurrence of hepatopathy as HBV were 3 cases (0.74%) in 1984, 2 cases (0.49%) in 1985 and 1 case (0.25%) in 1986 out of 407 subjects. We have regarded as subclinical B type hepatopathy or health HBV carriers, if HBsAg is positive and SGOT is below 40 I.U.. It were 33 cases (8.11%) in 1984, 30 cases (7.37%) in 1985 and 31 cases (7.62%) in 1986 respectively. 4) In HBsAg positive patterns for 3 years, all positive and negative types were 26 cases (6.39%) and 365 cases (89.68%) respectively. The conversion from the positive to the negative were 9 cases (2.21%), the negative to the positive 5 cases (1.23%). The transient positive and negative were 1 case (0.25%) respectively. So persistent HBsAg positive or negative for 3 years were 391 cases (96.07%). Negative conversion rate of HBsAg was slight higher than the positive conversion, but there was no significance. In anti-HBs positive patterns for 3 years, all positive and negative types were 34 cases (8.35%) and 252 cases (61.92%) respectively. The negative conversion were 4 cases (0.99%), the positive conversion 103 cases (25.31%). But the transient positive and negative were 12 cases (2.95%) and 2 cases (0.49%) respectively. So persistent antiHBs positive or negative types for 3 years were 286 cases (70.27%). The positive conversion rate of anti-HBs for the 3 years were higer than the negative conversion significantly (p<0.01). The above results suggested that the positivity of HBsAg is not increased any more for the 3 years. The increase of anti-HBs positivity in 1985 might be due to HBV vaccination, considering the active HBV vaccination compaign in our country for the past 4 to 5 years.
