Sarcoidosis is a multisystemie disease of unknown cause eharacterized by the formation of noncaseating granulomas that n,ay involve any organ, but the most common sites are the lungs, lyrnph nodes, skin, and eyes. We report a case of sarc( idosis which may be caused by a foreign body reaction. A 49-year-old women was presented with violet colored, scaly papules on t.he back and subcutaneous nodules on the left index finger, which had been present for 6 months. A biopsy of a nodule on the left index finger reveal .d noncaseating epithelioid cell granuloma throughout the dermis with foreign body in the center of the granuloma. Under the polarized light microscopy, tiny particles of foreign material were more obvious. We think that foreign material may actually serve as a nidus for granuloma format.ion in sarcoidosis.
