To investigate the present status of diabetes education in Korea, the Committee mailed 26 questionnaires to 46 hospitals as potential subjects and analyzed the answers returned from 25 hospitals, March-April, 1988. The results were as follows. 1) The average number of educator was 4.2 persons at each clinic. The education team was composed of 1.9 doctors, 0,9 nurse, 1 detitian and 0.4 the other. 2) Twenty-four educatees participated at each education program on the average. 3) Educators didn't receive education fee, because they thought that diabetes education is service or PR. 4) In 80% of clinics, educational material was offered by pharmaceutical company 5) In only 50% of clinics, post educational evaluation was operated. 6) Educatcrs exposed theirs bottle-necks such as follows: the shortage of appropriate educational material, the lack of various teaching material, the underdevelopment of various evaluational method.
