Arnold-Chiari malformation은 뇌 저부의 발생 이상으로 인해 뇌의 일부가 척수강으로 하방 전위하는 질환이다. 이들 기형은 원인 또는 전위 정도에 따라 세분화되는데 type Ⅱ는 보다 심한 증세와 예후를 가지므로 정확한 진단과 신중한 판단이 요구된다. 본 저자들은 임신 2기에 산전 초음파로 진단된 Arnold-Chiari malformation 1례를 문헌 고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다.

The Arnold-Chiari malformation is a developmental anomaly at the base of the brain which result in the downward displacement of some of the brain structures into the spinal canal. These malformations have been subdivided to the degree of displacement as well as the varying etiology of the malformations. TypeⅡ malformations have more severe symptoms and poor prognosis. So, termination of pregnancy may be elected as a therapeutic option. We present a case of Arnold-Chiari malformation which were diagnosed by prenatal ultrasonography during second trimester with a brief review of the literature.
