In order to evaluate the usefulness of single measurement of serum progesterone concentration in the differentiation of normal intrauterine and ectopic pregnancies, 106 patients(30 of pathologically proven ectopic pregnancies and 76 of normal intrauterine pregnancies) were analyzed. Serum progesterone levels were measured during 4-8 gestational weeks in normal intrauterine and in ectopic pregnancies preoperatively. The serum progesterone levels did not change significantly during early normal pregnancies.
