1. 1984년 2월 1일부터 1990년 2월 28일까지 연세대학교 의과대학 영동세브란스병원 산부인과에 내원한 940예의 임신 14주부터 22주까지의 정상 MSAFP치를 효소면역법으로 측정하여 각 임신주수에 따른 정상범위를 설정하였다. 2. MSAFP치 정상범위의 상한치와 하한치는 각주수에 따라 정상중앙값의 2.5배수, 2.0배수, 0.8배수, 0.4배수, 0.25배수를 사용하였다. 3. MSAFP치에 영향을 미치는 인자인 측정 당시의 모성체중을 고려한 조정된 Mon(weight-adjusted MoM)는 기대되는 MoM(Expected MoM=10^(0.24972-0.00471594*Body weight(kg))를 계산된 중앙값의 배수로 나누어 구할 수 있었다. 4. MSAFP치의 정상범위 및 상한치와 하한치의 설정은 지속적인 자료수집 및 추적관찰을 통해 이루어져야 한다.

A normal range of maernal serum alpha-fetoprotein(MSAFP) levels was estimated in 940 normal pregnant women between 14 and 22 weeks gestation by enzyme immuonassay, which consisted of 217 in thefirst study from February 1984 to July 1985 and the rest of 723 from August 1985 until February 1990. The upper and lower limits of normal range of MSAFP were calculated for each gestational week using multiples of median (MoM), 2.5, 2.0MoM & 0.8, 0.4, 0.25 MoM, respectively. The weight adjusted MoM can be calculated by dividing an unadjusted MoM by the expected MoM for that maternal weight, using the following formula: Expected MoM=10^(0.24972-0.00471594*Body weight(kg)) A normal range of MSAFP levels should be established through a much larger population of pregnant women and investigation.
