At St Bartholomews Hosp , London, in 1874, the clinicianpathologist Sir James Paget published the first description of the disease that now bears his name The original cases occured on the nipple and areola and were associated with an underlying breast cancer Twenty years later, the first case of the condition affecting the vulva was reported Extramammary Pagets disease is a slowly progressive intraepithelial carcinoma containing typical vacuolated Pagets cells The Pagets cells alone are rarely malignant their existence, however, is an ominous sign that frequently signals the presence of anaplasia elsewhere Recently we experienced a case of Pagets disease of the vulva which we present with a brief review of literature
