Development of malignancy in a benign cystic teratoma of the ovary is rare. In as much as benign cystic teratomas may contain a wide variety of tissues derived from all 3 germ layers, many types of cancer can develop. The most common type is the squamous cell carcinoma. We experienced a case of squamous cell carcinoma arising in benign cystic teratoma of the right ovary in 62 years old postmenopausal woman, and present this case with a brief review of concerned literatures.
