Sixty-nine patients with severe pre-eclampsia, forty-six with eclampsia, and twenty- eight normal pregnant women for control were studied to examine the relationship of BUN, serum creatinine and uric acid levels to the degree of hypertension, proteinuria, and weight gained. Cases studied were those who were admitted at Busan National University Hospital from January 1, 1981 to December 31, 1982. The results of this study were summerized as follows: 1. BUN, serum creatinine and uric acid levels were significantly higher in severe pre-eclampsia and eclampsia compaired to normal pregnancy. 2. In severe pre-eclampsia and eclampsia and eclampsia, the more the blood pressure is, the higher the levels of BUN and serum creatinine were, but there was no significant differences as far as uric acid level is concerned. 3. In severe pre-eclampsia and eclampsia, with the greater degree of proteinuria, the levels of BUN and serum creatinine increased more significantly, but there was little difference in uric acid levels by the degree of proteinuria. 4. There was no significant relationship between BUN, serum creatinine, and uric acid levels with the degree of weight gained during their gestations.
