Cisplatinum으로 인하여 나타나는 위장관에 대한 독성과 이에 수반되어 나타나는 식욕저하는 chloropromazine과 Methyl-prednisolone의 병용투여로 현저히 감소시킬 수 있어 cisplatinum의 지속적인 투여에 많은 도움을 주고 있으나 앞으로 경제적이고 우수한 향오심제의 개발이 필요할 것으로 생각된다.

Currently Cis-platinum is one of the most popular antitumor chemotherapeutic agent using in the field of gynecologic malignancy. the effectiveness of Cis-platinum was reported in many literature, in which suggested the results were promising however the toxicity of Cis-platinum mainly gestrointestinal tract disturbance, nausea, vomitting & loss of appetite was severe enough so oncologist had tried different treatment regimen in addition to conventional antiemetic drugs. The authors studied 45 cases treated with Cis-platinum(35 cases of cervical cancer, 9 cases of ovarian cancer & 1 case of vulvar cancer) at Obs. & Gynecol. department of Ko sin medical college from Dec. 1982 to Mar. 1983. The results are as follow; In 22 out of 45 cases, chlorpromazine was used only for control of Cis-platinum induced nausea and vomiting. 1. All 22 cases complained of nausea and vomiting. 2. Nausea was started average 2-4 hours after Cis-platinum medication & usually has 4-5 hours duration. All 22 cases complained of persistent nausea(lasting more than 1 hour duration) & half of them were intractable. 3. Vomiting was noted average 2-4 hours after Cis-platinum medication & usually lasted 1-2 hours duration. All 22 cases complained of persistent vomiting (lasting more than 1 hour duration) and 5 out of 22 cases were intractable. 4. All 22 cases complained of loss of appetite & unpleasant feeling morning after medication. In 23 out of 45 cases, chlorpromazine combined with high methylprednisolone was use. 1. 8 out of 23 cases(34.8%) did not complained of any nausea nor vomiting. 11 cases complained of nausea and vomiting & 4 cases complained of only nausea. 2. In 15 cases, nausea was started average 4-5 hours after Cis-platinum medication & one of them was intractable which lasted 20 hours duration. 3. In cases, vomiting was started average 5-6 hours after medication of Cis-platinum & usually mild except one who complained of persistent vomiting. 4. All patients have not experienced unusual feeling morning after medication except one who persistent mausea and vomiting.
