한국도 다른나라와 같이 간염의 epidemic area로써 환자 및 보균자가 증가 상태에 있으며 아직은 확실한 예방 방법이 완전히 정립되지 않은 상태로써, 특히 모자 건강상 산모의 간염 노출 위험성이 항상있다고 생각된다. 간염이 산모와 신생아에 미치는 영향을 생각하여 볼때, 산과적인 영역에서도 산전 진찰시 모든 산모에게 간염의 Screening Test로 HBs Ag을 검출하여 간염으로 인한 산모와 신생아의 위험성을 감소시키고 차후 능동적 면역법등의 예방법이 소개되어야 할것임을 강조하면서 HBs Ag의 Maternal Transmission에 의해 희생된 한예를 보고한다.

We had experienced a case of the neonatal death resulted from hepatitis type B. This neonate was born from the woman who was diagnosed as chromic active hepatitis by the result of the liver biopsy at postpartum period, and the neonate died at 44th postpartum day. We present a case of maternal transmission of HBs Ag. with brief review of literatures.
