현재까지 보고된 사실을 참고하여 한국인에서의 태반의 각중량을 측정하여 비교하였으며, 신생아의 체중과 태반의 무게, 그리고 용적, 비중과의 관계를 고찰함고 더불어 산모의 나이 그리고 해산횟수 등과 관계를 조사하였다. 앞으로 보다 더 진보된 방법과 세밀한 방법으로 연구하여 산부인과에 도움이 되고저 한다.

Three hundred seventy eight placentas randomly colleted in the past three years and ranged of the twenty-fourth gestation weeek to term which delivery at severance Hospital of yonsei Medical college. these were analysed statistically as to whether there was any correlation between the sized of the placentas, weight of newborn and age and parity of the mother. We have also tried to search for any relationship between the specific gravity and the size of the placenta and the newborn weight. 1. the average weight of the 378 newborns was 3167 gm and for the 340 normal cases it was 3299 gm. 2. The average weight of 378 placentas was 616 gm and for the 340 normal cases it was 621 gm. 3. The avearge volume of 378 placentas was 588 cc and for normal cases it was 596 cc. 4. The avearge placental demesions were 17.9 X 14.2 cm. 5. The average surface area of the 340 normal cases was 267 cm2. 6. the specific gravity of 340 normal cases was 1.0475 and there was somewhat statistical relationship to the baby weight. 7. The weight of baby and the size of the placenta showed no demonstrable relationship to the age and parity of the mother. 8. Statistically there was a high correlation between the weight of the infants and the weight volume and surface area of placentas.
