Taxonomic status of unidentified Youngia taxa which collected in Bosung, Chunlanamdo was evaluated by the following characteristics: (1) variations of morphological characters, (2) somatic chromosomal characters, (3) variations of allozymes, (4) RFLPs of PCR-amplified cpDNA fragments. For morphological analysis, 36 characters from unidentified individuals and two species that expected to have the relation with these individuals, Youngia japonica and Ixeris chinensis, were measured. The morphological characters, radical leaf, outer-involucre and inner-involucre, showed that unidentified individuals are similar to Youngia japonica. Somatic chromosomal characters, variations of allozymes and RFLPs of PCR-amplified cpDNA fragments were not different from that of Youngia japonica. The results of these analyses, taxon from Bosung area was identified as Youngia japonica subsp. longiflora. Youngia japonica subsp. longiflora (Korean name: Kin-Kkot-Ppo-Ri-Paeng-I) is newly recorded taxon in Korea. Youngia japonica subsp. longiflora had larger flowers, longer involucres and pedicels than those of Youngia japonica subsp. japonica.
