This study is performed to establish the pyrometallurgical technology for uranium metal refining. In this study, the metal is first oxidize in molten chloride salt by cadmium dichloride to form uranium trichloride, which are installed in the molten salt to facilitate the electrotranasport of uranium. The uranium deposited from the basket-type stainless steel anode by electrotransport through molten KCl-LiCl eutectic electrolyte to a low carbon steel cathode above 0.15V, and the morphology of deposit was dendritic below 0.95V. The dissolution rate and the current passed are proportional to a applied potential.
