Graft copolymerization of mixtures of acrylic acid (AA) and acrylonitrile (AN) onto pre-irradiated polypropylene (PP) films were studied. The effects of reaction condition, solvents, radiation dose, reaction time, reaction temperature, additives, and co-monomer composition were investigated. The extent of grafting was found to increase with increasing radiation dose, and reaction temperature. The proportion of acrylonitrile in the copolymer increased with increasing AN component and sulfuric acid concentration. In water-methanol mixture, the proportion of acrylonitle in copolymer increased with increasing methanol content.
