Effects of of fibrous impurities such as carbon fiber, nylon and cotton on dielectric breakdown phenomena in PE were investigated. From the end of the fibrous impurities, electrical tree was initiated and dielectric breakdown was occurred finally. Degenerated or deformed region by the breakdown of polymeric chain around the main tree channel was observed.
