Investigation has been performed to remove Zn in wastewater using an electrolytic cell packed with activated carbon. When 13 volts of electric potential was applied for 20 minutes, concentration of Zn in waste water solution was dropped from 8.63 ㎎/ℓ to 0.06 ㎎/ℓ (removal rate: 99%) by electric cell. The same concentration of Zn solution was lowed to 0.27 ㎎/ℓ (removal rate: 97%) by activated carbon only with the same contact time. Both methods did not provide a complete Zn removal. However, Zn was removed almost completely in the same Zn solution by electrolytic cell packed with activated carbon when 7 volts of electric potential were applied with 15 minutes of contact time, and activated carbon was packed 50% by volume. It was analysed that removal rate increased in electrolytic cell packed with activated carbon by catalytic reaction of activated carbon.
