The purpose of this paper is to examine dramatic plot, which is arguably the most essential subject in drama syudies. The pertinent articles reviewed in this paper were compiled by the author in Korea. A total of 25 articles related to dramatic plot ((11 Korean, 7 translations, and 7 foreign) were treated in order of their publication dates for the purpose of chronologically tracing the shifts in major theories on dramatic plot in the process. I was able to identify certain theories that were mutually influential and others that were unique. A studies examined were uniformed grounded on the basic 5 stage plot tructure model first proposed by Gustav Fritag in 1886, which consists of "exposition - rising action - climax - falling action - catastrophe" Research reveals a common tendency to use terminologies such as "crisis", "turning point", "peak", "climax" interchangeably; however, there were also arguments for differentiating "crisis" (located at the center of the dramatic plot) and "climax: (located towards the end of the dramatic plot). I have consequently come to the conclusion that n dramatic plot the highest point at the center should most appropriately be referred to as "crisis" and :turning point". Futhermore, "climax" is not located at the center of the dramatic plot but rather towards the end, just prior to the catastrophe. In closing I Propose a 5 stage model of dramatic plot consisting of "exposition - rising action - crisis - falling action - resolution". In which as case "point of attack" would be located between exposition and rising action; the turning point, within crisis; and finaly, climax, between falling action and resolution.
