The significance of ICT sector in the Korean economy is on the rise. Growth rate of ICT sector in both GDP and product export outskirts that of other sectors. On the basis of this fact, a common projection is that Korea stands to gain from the spread of E-Commerce. This paper is an attempt to put such a projection in a limelight. Considering the international trade structure of the Korean economy, Korea`s current drive to the digital economy is likely to cause an import surge before bearing the fruit of export expansion. Even after a period of massive investment drive, returning to current account surplus is not guaranteed. It is also discovered that, with the advancement of E-Commerce, merchandise trade account may provide a misleading picture of international trade activities.
