Research Articles : The Analysis of the Themes and Contents on the Biology Inquiry Actions in science Text - Book of the Middle School

The analysis of the themes and contents for inquiry learning on biology section of science textbooks 1, 2, 3 of middle schools drawn up in the 6th Curriculum are the followings : 1. The pages of biology parts in the textbook like this : `Surrounding organisms` unit in Science I covered average 28.2%, `The Structure and Function of Living things` unit in Science 2 covered average 27.8% and `Genetics and Evolution unit in Science 3 covered average 19.8% of all. 2. The inquiry themes such as observation, experiment, data interpretation, discussion, investigation are commonly suggested. A classification is added in the `Surrounding organisms` unit. There are measuring, tryout and inference are added in `The Structure and Function of Living things` unit. The number of inquiry activities is like this: There are average 21.6 inquiry activities in the `Surrounding organisms` unit, average 20.4 inquiry activities in `The Structure and Function of Living things` unit, average 11.0 inquiry activities in the `Genetics and Evolution` unit. 3. There are 32 kinds of inquiry themes in the `Surrounding organisms` unit. It includes 173 inquiry activities. There are 40 kinds of inquiry themes in the `The Structure and Function of Living things` unit. It includes 163 inquiry activities. There are 29 kinds of inquiry themes in the `Genetics and Evolution unit. It includes 88 inquiry activities. 4. The percentage of inquiry activities papers in biology unit is like this : There are average 19.7% of research activities in the `Surrounding organisms` unit, 19.9% of inquiry activities in the `The Structure and Function of Living things` unit and 12.5% of inquiry activities in the `Genetics and Evolution` unit. 5. The average species number of living things used in the inquiry activities in the `Surrounding organisms` unit are 13 phyla and 30.3 species and in the `The Structure and Function of Living things` unit are 7 phyla and 12.8 species in animals, plants and protists. Living things used in the inquiry activities in the `Genetics and Evolution$quot; unit are 5 phyla and 9.5 species in animals and plants. 6. By the results of this study all text books has one or two problems which are term, safety education and schemes on the inquiry learning and every textbook except `B` has 1∼3 characteristics such as reagent, inquiry theme, safety education, notice and inquiry problem. The use of consequences in this paper can help teachers to guide an efficient teaching of biology education n middle schools. Furthermore, this paper will provide General Science, Biology I, II education with the basis of teaching-learning activities in high schools. By all accounts, the research in this paper will be thought of as a necessary material to be furnished for writing textbooks and R & D in relation to the forthcoming 7th Curricular Revision.
