A survey of electrophoretic variation in isozymes and general proteins encoded by 23 loci was performed to estimate the degree of genic variation and genetic diversity on 33 populations of Bombina orientalis from Korea and China. The level of average genic variation of B. orientalis was calculated as A=1.53, P=29.5%, Ho=0.091 and He=0.099. The degree of genetic heterozygosity of Namhae population was the highest (Ho-0.154, He=0.153), whereas Chinese population was the lowest (Ho=0.013, he=0.034). The average value of genetic similarities among populations of B. orientalis was high (S=0.917). However, the levels of genetic differentiation of Chindo (S=0.846) and Chinese (S=0.834) from other populations were higher than the average values of conspecific populations for the vertebrate species.
