Drosophila kikkawai is the most cytologically studied species in the montium subgroup of the melanogaster species group of the genus Drosophila. A formal standard photomap of its polytene chromosomes and the data regarding naturally occurring inversion polymorphism in Indian populations of D. kikkawai are provided.
