The callus cultures were derived from scape tips of Allium fistulosum on the basal medium Murashige and Skoog (1962) supplemented with 2,4-D 2㎎/l and 15(v/v) coconut milk. As a result of caryological analysis through fixation and pretreatment, various mitotic abnormalities - binucleate, multimicronuclei, supernucleus, bridge, laggards etc.-and high degree of ploidy were observed in various frequencies. The shoots derived from callus on the MS basal medium with additives of NAA 0.5㎎/l, kinetin 2㎎/l and 15%(v/v) coconut milk were rooted on the MS basal medium with no additives, and the chromosomal status of the root tips were analyzed and compared with those of calli.
