The conjunctions in the Auxiliary Verb Constructions show some interesting properties in need of explanation. When they are not used in the Auxiliary Verb Constructions, these conjunctions have the original meaning as expected. On the other hand, when used in the Auxiliary Verb Constructions, they show the function of connecting the main verb and the auxiliary verbs rather than show their original meaning. In this study, we propose a unified account of the conjunctions in the Auxiliary Verb Constructions. By `unified` we mean that all the conjunctions, in spite of the subclasses, have the same function of connecting the main verb and the auxiliary verb. We will show that our unified analysis enables us to explain some properties of the Auxiliary Verb Constructions in Korean. (Chosun University)
