Mono (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate를 2-ethyl hexanol 에 의하여 에스테르化 하는것에 대한 反應速度論的硏究를 酸 및 鹽基와 같은 觸媒를 사용하지 않을 때 그의 反應機構를 알기 위하여 행하였다.
실험적으로 결정된 速度式은 mono (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate에 대하여 2次이고 2-ethyl hexanol에 대하여는 1次이었다. 이 방정식의 溫度依存性의 플로트로부터 18㎉/mole의 活性化에너지를 얻었다.
또한 反應機構에 대한 약간의 검토를 행하였다.
Chemical kinetic study of the esterification of mono (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate with 2-ethyl hexanol was carried out to find the reaction mechanism when catalyst, such as acid or base, was not used. The rate equation determined experimentally was second order for mono (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate and first order for 2-ethyl hexanol. The plot of temperature dependence of reaction rate constant of this equation gave an activation energy value of 18 ㎉/mole. Some discussion of the reaction mechanism was also given.
