The nucleotide sequence of 5S rRNA from a multicellular green alga Chaetomorpha moniligera was determined. The 5S rRNA is composed of 120 nucleotides and does not have any modified base. The nucleotide sequence of the 5S rRNA has wide range of similarities to the other green algae (53-71%). In spite of this, the secondary structure of the 5S rRNA has the general eukaryotic characteristics. Most of its bases in single-stranded regions are well conserved like in other eukaryotic 5S rRNA. v
