Choi Inhoon's essays are an precious attempt to research on essence of literature and Art. And through his essays, he has elaborately studied the relation between literature and politics, and the literary sense of identity. Choi Inhoon regards the political role of literature as important, but at the same time, he takes a stand against its being dependent on the politics. Choi shows the peculiar role of literature compared with the ones of other arts. He expresses intense, impressive "literary self-consciousness" more than any other writers.
