본 연구는 미학에서의 주관적 규정에 기초하여 스포츠를 미적 대상으로 고찰한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 미학의 개념은 동서양 모두 거의 BC 400 여 년 정도부터 거론되기 시작하였고 18 세기 바움가르덴에 의해 현대적으로 개념화되었다. 본 연구의 진행을 위해서 제반 스포츠 활동에서 나타나는 미의 특성들에 대해 객관적 규정과 주관적 규정으로 나누어 고찰하였다. 그리고 ‘스포츠 미학’을 통해 스포츠의 심미적 특성을 고찰한 결과, 운동 종목에 기준 할 때, 표현예술종목과 경쟁이 중심이 되는 종목으로 나눌 수 있었고 후자를 중점적으로 고찰하였다. 그 이유는 후자가 전자보다는 더 의미 있고 강도 높은 미학적 요소를 찾을 수 있으리라 판단되었기 때문이다. 더욱이 기존의 미학적 개념에 반대되는 추하고 아름답지 않은 것들에 대해 주관을 갖고 미적으로 전환시키려는 시선과 태도 그리고 노력은 보다 강렬하고 농도 깊은 스포츠 미학적 질을 생산해 낼 수 있다는 사실을 깨달을 수 있었다. 따라서 스포츠 미학에 있어서 이러한 시도는 미는 물론, 진과 선과 같은 절대적 가치까지 접근할 수 있는 여지를 보여주기 때문에 스포츠 미학의 정립을 위해 주관적 규정에 의한 미적 고찰은 앞으로 지속적으로 시도되어야 할 필요가 있다.

This study considered sport activities as beautiful objects based on the subjective determination of aesthetics, and made the following conclusions. The conception of aesthetics was mentioned first around BC 400 both in the East and the West, and in 18th century, its conceptuality was made by Baumgarten in a modern way. This study classified the characters of beauty, which are found in overall sport activities into objective determination and subjective determination, and then, considered. And through ‘sport aesthetics’, this study focused on aesthetical characters of sport and as a result, sport aesthetic is divided into expressional art and competition-centered items. Therefore, this attempt in the sport aesthetics shows the possibility of reaching to absolute values like truth and good. Aesthetical thesis base on the subjective determination of beauty needs to be attempted continuously.
