목적 : 본 연구는 고령자의 피부미용에 적합한 기능성 한방 화장품의 효능을 고찰하기 위하여 국내에 출시되어 있는 화장품중에서 한방 재료를 선정하여 고령자의 피부미용에 적합한 생리 활성의 효능을 알아보는 것이 목적이다. 연구방법 : 2017년 식약처에서 발표한 국내 화장품 생산 실적 상위 제품 중에서 기능성 화장품에 해당되는 에센스를 선정하고, 제품의 성분 중에서 한방 재료만 각각 분류하고, 그중에서 공통으로 사용된 한방 재료 중감초, 대추, 맥문동 지황을 고찰 대상으로 하였다. 연구결과 : 감초는 미백활성이 강해 피부면역력이 저하된 노인들의 피부 2차 감염을 예방하고, 노인성 반점의 억제, 대추는 페놀성 화합물들과 비타민 C의 항산화 활성 효과로 주름 개선, 맥문동은 미백과 보습에 효과적, 지황은 가려움증과 피부건조, 주름과 색소 침착에 효과적이었다. 결론 : 감초, 대추, 맥문동, 지황 모두 노화를 촉진하는 활성산소 제거에 효과가 뛰어나 항산화 활성과 항염증활성을 가진 기능성 천연화장품의 원료로서의 가능성이 높았으며, 주름과 색소 침착에 효과적이었고, 고령자 피부의 특징인 가려움증과 피부건조에 적합하여 건조증, 소양증 및 인설현상 등의 증상을 겪는 고령자를 위한 한방재료로서 보습기능까지 뛰어난 결과를 보였다.

Objective : The objective of this study is to understand the effects of functional medicinal herb cosmetics suitable for the elderly skincare, by selecting the medicinal herb ingredients used for cosmetics released in Korea. Method : Out of the top products of high-quality cosmetic items manufactured in Korea, announced by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety in 2017, this study selected the essence as a functional cosmetic, classified each medicinal herb ingredient out of the product ingredients, and then conducted the analysis targeting lilyturf, licorice, foxglove, and jujube out of the medicinal herb ingredients commonly used. Result : Owing to the strong whitening activity, the licorice prevented the secondary skin infection of the elderly with the reduced skin immunity and also suppressed the senile spots. Based on the antioxidative effect of phenolic compounds and Vitamin C, the jujube improved the wrinkles. The lilyturf was effective for whitening and moisturizing while the foxglove was effective for the itchiness, skin dryness, wrinkle, and pigmentation. Conclusion : As all the licorice, jujube, lilyturf, and foxglove were excellent at removing the active oxygens accelerating the aging, they were highly functional as the ingredients of functional natural cosmetics with antioxidant activity and anti-inflammatory activity. On top of great effects on the wrinkle and pigmentation, they were also suitable for itchiness and skin dryness which are the biggest characteristics of the elderly skin, so that they showed the excellent results of moisturizing function as medicinal herb ingredients for the elderly suffering from xeroderma, pruritus, and scale.
