본 연구는 살롱의 용어, 사회, 문화, 공간의 연관성에 대한 역사적 고찰이며, 사회적 변화로 인하여 어떠한 문화적 형태로 발전 변화되어 왔는지를 다룸으로써 살롱의 시대적 해석과 앞으로의 전개에 대한 영향을 모색, 파악하고자 함을 목적으로 한다. 살롱은 과거 지적 토론, 사교모임의 교류, 문화의 커뮤니티 공간에서 시작되어 산업혁명을 거치면서 다양한 정보들과 결합하여 새로운 콘텐츠 공간으로 변화되었다. 이러한 이유는 20세기 이후 빠른 정보 교류와 높아진 개인의 경제성, 라이프스타일이 반영된 사회적 경험이 다양해지면서 실제공간과 가상공간에서의 문화공간으로써 이용 가치가 꾸준히 높아지고 때문에, 지적 문화에서 시작된 과거의 살롱과 시대적 변천에 따른 현시점의 살롱이 어떻게 변화되고 발전하고 있는지에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 이에 첫째 살롱의 의미 해석을 위한 용어적 개념과, 사회 및, 문화적, 공간적 개념을 고찰하여 같은 맥락의 유의적 개념들을 가진 새로운 용어들을 조사한다. 둘째, 살롱을 시간적 관점에서 연대기로 구성, 조사, 분류하여 살롱의 변천 유형을 분석하고 셋째, 살롱의 변천사를 통해 나타난 사회적 현상과 문화적 현상을 결합하여 나타난 연대기 바탕 위에 살롱이 본래 가지고 있는 기본 개념과 시간적 변화됨을 그 시대에 적용하여 해석, 파악한다. 위의 연구로 살롱 문화는 사회적 배경과 더불어 주최자나 구성원들 간의 계층, 문화양식, 라이프스타일등 커뮤니케이션을 통해 인간 중심의 문화적 성향이 두드러지게 나타난다. 아울러, 현재의 살롱은 시대-문화적 양식과 주최자, 구성원들간의 라이프스타일에 따른 특징적 표현 양식 등이 지적, 미적, 공간경험이 포함된 결합적 복합 문화 공간으로 전개되어 있음이 확인된다. 따라서 본 연구는 살롱의 용어, 사회 및 문화적 개념의 고찰과 시대적의 변천과정에 나타난 살롱 문화의 특징에 해석을 바탕으로 앞으로의 시대변화에 따른 살롱문화와 공간 발전에 방향성을 제시함에 목적이 있다.

This study is to address terminology and historical consideration on society-cultural relevance of salon as well as how it has been transformed into certain culture, in order to examine historical interpretation and effect of salon on future development. Salon started from the space where the trend of art and culture developed and has changed to new content space as being combined with scientific technology and economic activities over the period of Industrial Revolution. It is because of its consistent value as the cultural space with fast information delivery and economic and intelligent basis of individuals which have been increased since 20th centuries. Therefore, there is still unmet needs to conduct a study on the past salons that started as the intelligent space as well as the contemporary salons that have changed according to the periodical transitions and over time. This research revealed that salon culture, along with social backgrounds, prominently showed human-centered cultural inclination through communications such as the class between organizers and members, cultural patterns, and lifestyles. Additionally, the current salons were developed into complicated cultural space where intellectual, aesthetical, and spatial experiences are included and combined with distinctive expression styles according to temporal-cultural patterns and the lifestyle between organizers and members. Therefore, this research aimed to suggest the direction of salon culture and spatial development following temporal changes in the future based on the interpretation of the characteristics of salon culture shown in the term of salon, review of the social and cultural concepts, and the process of temporal changes. Determine that intelligent and esthetic spatial experiences on the cultural space, salon in the past have been realized as a variety of contemporary culture. In conclusion, this study has its significance in suggesting direction of cultural space according to the interpretation of salon over time based on consideration of terminological, social and cultural concept of salon.
