국내 지역별 미세먼지 농도 리스크 분석

Regional Analysis of Particulate Matter Concentration Risk in South Korea

Millions of People die every year from diseases caused by exposure to outdoor air pollution. Especially, one of the most severe types of air pollution is fine particulate matter (PM10, PM2.5). South Korea also has been suffered from severe PM. This paper analyzes regional risks induced by PM10 and PM2.5 that have affected domestic area of Korea during 2014~2016.3Q. We investigated daily maxima of PM10 and PM2.5 data observed on 284 stations in South Korea, and found extremely high outlier. We employed extreme value distributions to fit the PM10 and PM2.5 data, but a single distribution did not fit the data well. For theses reasons, we implemented extreme mixture models such as the generalized Pareto distribution(GPD) with the normal, the gamma, the Weibull and the log-normal, respectively. Next, we divided the whole area into 16 regions and analyzed characteristics of PM risks by developing the FN-curves. Finally, we estimated 1-month, 1-quater, half year, 1-year and 3-years period return levels, respectively. The severity rankings of PM10 and PM2.5 concentration turned out to be different from region to region. The capital area revealed the worst PM risk in all seasons. The reason for high PM risk even in the yellow dust free season (Jun. ~ Sep.) can be inferred from the concentration of factories in this area. Gwangju showed the highest return level of PM2.5, even if the return level of PM10 was relatively low. This phenomenon implies that we should investigate chemical mechanisms for making PM2.5 in the vicinity of Gwangju area. On the other hand, Gyeongbuk and Ulsan exposed relatively high PM10 risk and low PM2.5 risk. This indicates that the management policy of PM risk in the west side should be different from that in the east side. The results of this research may provide insights for managing regional risks induced by PM10 and PM2.5 in South Korea.

Forensic Engineering is the art and science of professionals qualified to serve as engineering experts in courts of law or in arbitration proceedings. Buses using compressed natural gas (CNG) trend to be extended in use internationally as optimal counterplan for reducing discharge gas of light oil due to high concern about environment. However, CNG buses is equipped with composite pressure vessels (CPVs); since the CPVs contain compressed natural gas, the risks in the case of accident is very high. In this study, the bursting test for the pressure vessel depending on the heat treatment conditions of the vessel in which the actual ruptured accident occurred, after the bursting test, the fracture pattern analysis had performed. The mechanical materials properties test using Instrumented Indentation Test had performed to confirm the mechanical properties for each heat treatment cases. Also, the fractography analysis and metallographic analysis had performed to find out the difference of each heat treatment case. By comparing normal vessel with abnormal vessel which have defect of heat treatment conditions in term of the bursting patterns and characteristics of containers using various forensic engineering methods, especially, it is possible to understand how important the heat treatment process is in the high pressure vessel unlike any product.

Bicycles are very popular sporting goods in these days. Thus, the durability of bicycles is very important for the safety of bicyclists. It is well known that a bicycle frame is a major component which is essential to the safety and performance of a complete bicycle. In this study, the durability of bicycle frames were experimentally investigated under the fatigue load. Eighty bicycle frames with different types and materials were prepared and tested according to EN standards. Three kinds of fatigue loads, that is, pedalling, vertical and horizontal fatigue load, which occur constantly during riding a bicycle, were applied to the bicycle frames. The experimental results show that the horizontal fatigue load was the severest mode to pass EN standard. The pass ratio of horizontal fatigue load test was 45.2%, while the pass ratio of vertical fatigue load test was 100%. Most of cracks were found at the right side of bottom bracket shell and at the intersection area between head tube and down tube. It seems that the experimental results can be applied to improve the safety and performance of a bicycle frame.

In this paper, study of vehicle fire cases caused by connector and power wiring of anti-lock brake system(ABS) module damage is presented. The purpose of ABS module is to improve braking and steering ability under sudden stop of the vehicle by repeatedly activating and releasing the brake with electric signal via electric control unit. The electric control unit for ABS may experience incomplete contact between power line and signal line or electrical breakdown on the printed circuit board by undergoing repetitive signal change which would consequently result in electrical heat and spark, eventually leading to automotive fire. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to provide fundamental data by analyzing connector and power wiring of ABS module damage conducive to the precise investigation on the cause of vehicle fire.

In this study, we have performed the Cone Calorimeter test in accordance with ISO 5660-1 to check the combustion characteristics of building flooring materials. The fire risk of these materials were evaluated by construction code, KFI criteria and standards of flame retardant performance. When samples exposed to external heat flux, all samples consumed a lot of Oxygen for a long time. So heat release from sample burning continued so long. And also all samples produced so much smoke. Even though a few samples were satisfied with only peak heat release rate criteria, all 8 samples were not satisfied with criteria of peak heat release rate and total heat released together. The results of 5 min total heat released were 15.9 MJ/m2 ~ 53.9 MJ/m2. It menas the results are more than 2~6 times higher than the criteria. The results of 10 min total heat released were 30.1 MJ/m2 ~ 100.8 MJ/m2. It means the results are more than 3~12 times higher than the criteria. 6 of 8 samples were not satisfied with Dm.corr.(corrected maximum smoke density) criteria. The building flooring materials which we used for this test ignited very fast and the burning continued so long. It means these samples are susceptible to fire.

The flash point, explosion limits, autoignition temperature(AIT) are important combustible properties which need special concern in the chemical safety process that handle hazardous substances. For the evaluation of the flammable properties of n-butylacetate, this study was investigated the explosion limits of n-butylacetate in the reference data. The flash points, fire points and AIT by the ignition delay time of n-butylacetate were experimented. The lower flash points of n-butylacetate by using the Setaflash and Pensky-Martens closed-cup testers were 24℃ and 26℃, respectively. The flash points of n-butylacetate using the Tag and Cleveland open cup testers are measured 31℃ and 40℃, respectively. And the fire points of n-butylacetate by the Tag and Cleveland open cup testers were measured 32℃ and 41℃. The AIT of n-butylacetate measured by the ASTM 659E tester was measured as 411℃. The lower explosion limit of lower flash point 24℃, which was measured by the Setaflash tester, was calculated to be 1.40 vol%. Also, the upper explosion limit of upper flash point 67℃ the Setaflash tester was calculated to be 12.5 vol%.

The current status of Performance-Based Design (PBD) implemented in 4 wide areas (Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon and Busan) over the past 5 years was reviewed with regard to the number of PBD implementation and target buildings. Then, detailed status related to fire scenarios, input information for fire simulation, and grid size were analyzed with the pre-review for the PBD. As a result, the domestic PBD was mainly applied to the mixed occupancy. In the fire simulations performed on the identical fire scenario and fire space, the maximum heat release rate (HRR) varied significantly depending on the PBD designer. Various combustibles were also considered for the identical fire source, and their combustion properties also showed considerable uncertainty. In addition, the applicability of accurate input information for predictive models of heat and smoke detectors was examined. Finally, the average grid size for the fire simulation using Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) was analyzed, and the improvement of PBD to minimize designer dependency was proposed.

The coefficient of derailment and the rate of wheel load reduction were used as the index of train running safety that was directly affected the train derailment safety. In aspects of track, the train running safety depends on the complex interaction between wheel and rail, and the track-vehicle conditions (i.e., the curvature, cant, track system, vehicle speed and the operation conditions, etc). In this study, the relationship between the train running safety and the track curvature and vehicle speed for direct fixation concrete tracks currently employed in Korean light rapid transit was assessed by performing field tests using actual vehicles running along the service lines. The measured dynamic wheel load, lateral wheel load and lateral displacement of rail head were measured for same train running on four tested tracks under real conditions, which included curved and tangent tracks placed on the tunnel and bridge, thus increasing the train speed by approximately maximum design speed of each test site. Therefore, the measured dynamic track response was applied to the running safety analysis in order to evaluate the coefficient of derailment, the rate of wheel load reduction and the track gauge widening at each test site, and compare with the corresponding Korean train running safety standard. As the results, the lateral track response of direct fixation concrete track appeared to increase with the decreased track curvature; therefore, it was inferred that the track curvature directly affected the train running safety.

In this study, we propose a new control system that effectively utilizes the interaction effect of control force through the connection of stiffness member for seismic performance enhancement of two adjacent structures equipped with active tuned mass damper (ATMD). The efficiency of the proposed control system is verified by comparing with the existing independent control system through the numerical simulations of the 10th- and 12th-story buildings. From the numerical results, it is confirmed that the proposed method can show similar or better control performance even with more economical control capacity than the existing independent control system. Another advantage is that the existing system does not exhibit the adaptive control performance in emergency of failure of one control device, whereas the proposed system can achieve successful adaptive control performance by economically and efficiently utilizing the interacting control effect through the connection member.

The purpose of this study is to develop standard reference materials for safety control of construction materials considering the required performance of standard materials including flow performance incorporating particles. The flow characteristics of concrete are very complicated depending on mixing proportions of constituent materials, admixtures, amount of mixing, type of mixer, time of mixing, temperature and so forth. Uncertainties and multidimensional properties of concrete have been evaluated through various studies but there are few researches for the development of standard reference material. In this study, based on the rheological concept, the flow performance of construction materials was evaluated to understand the properties of standard reference materials and was finally obtained representing materials which simulate the standard reference materials.

It is necessary to analyze on the compressive strength among material properties of concrete for confirming damages of architectures due to large explosion. A non destructive test is known as the representative methods estimating compressive strength and ultrasonic pulse velocity, rebound hardness test are widely used because of their simplicity, convenience. But combined method supplementing two types is applied at now as they are affected by the characteristics of test specimen. In this research to check damages on the members of structure before and after explosion, the characteristics of compressive strength are compared and analyzed through a real explosion test prior to full scale structures. The test results showed that the larger the TNT powder and the shorter the distance, the greater the decrease in strength before and after the explosion and that the largest displacement and moment for the explosive load and the greatest decrease in the strength at the central part. Due to the surface condition and the thickness variation of the concrete specimens, the standard deviation value is the smallest in the combining method of fusion of the ultrasonic method and rebound hardness method. Thus, the combining method can be one of appropriate methods to evaluate the strength in the reinforced concrete structures damaged by the explosion.
