본 연구에서는 청소년이 지각한 부모의 심리적 통제와 또래관계 질의 관계에서 사회적 위축의 매개효과를 검증하였다. 이를 위해 서울에 소재한 중학교 2곳에 재학 중인 1, 2학년 학생 274명을 대상으로 청소년용 부모 심리적 통제 척도, 사회적 위축 척도, 청소년용 또래관계 질 척도를 사용하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 22.0 통계 프로그램을 이용하여 분석하였다. 각 변인의 관계를 확인하기 위하여 상관분석과 위계적 회귀분석을 실시하였으며, 청소년이 지각한 부모의 심리적 통제와 또래관계 질의 관계에서 사회적 위축의 매개효과를 알아보기 위하여 Baron과 Kenny(1986)가 제안한 매개효과 검증 절차를 사용하였다. 그리고 매개효과의 통계적 유의성을 검증하기 위해 Sobel Test를 실시하였다. 본 연구에서 밝혀진 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 청소년이 지각한 모의 심리적 통제의 총점은 청소년의 또래관계 질의 총점과 유의한 부적 상관관계가 나타났고, 사회적 위축의 총점과는 유의한 정적 상관관계가 나타났다. 또한, 청소년의 사회적 위축의 총점은 또래관계 질의 초점과 유의한 부적 상관관계를 나타냈다. 둘째, 또래관계 질의 관계에서 사회적 위축의 매개효과를 검증한 결과, 청소년이 지각한 모의 심리적 통제는 사회적 위축을 부분매개로 하여 청소년의 또래관계 질을 유의하게 설명하는 것으로 나타났다. 이를 통해 본 연구는 청소년이 지각한 모의 심리적 통제가 청소년의 또래관계 질에 미치는 영향에서 사회적 위축의 중요성을 규명하였다. 또한 연구의 임상적 함의와 제한점, 추후 연구를 위한 제언을 논의하였다.

The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of social withdrawal on the relationship between adolescents` perceived parents` psychological control and peer relationship quality. The subjects of this study consisted of 274 first and second graders in middle schools located in Seoul. To examine mediating effect of social withdrawal on the relationship between adolescents` perceived parents` psychological control and peer relationship quality, Baron and Kenny`s(1986) model was applied together with the statistical analysis program(SPSS). Additionally, Sobel`s(1982) test was used to verify the significance of the mediation effects. The results were as follows: First, the total score of adolescents` perceived maternal psychological control showed a significantly negative correlation with the total score of peer relationship quality, whilst showing a significantly positive correlation with the total score of social withdrawal. Second, the total score of social withdrawal had a partial mediating effect on the relationship between the total score of adolescents` perceived maternal psychological control and the total score of peer relationship quality. In conclusion, this study confirmed the important role of social withdrawal between the adolescents` perceived maternal psychological control and the peer relationship quality. The strengths and weaknesses of the study, as well as suggestions for future investigations, together with clinical implications, are also discussed.
